"Again." he says tossing the weapon back to the younger Dragonborn
Catching it with his chest and arms, the child looks disheartened. "But this is the third time dad! I wanna go play now."
"Now Viktor, you know well that if you want to be a warrior you need discipline. Well these are your teachers, the stone will teach you focus. The water will teach you to adapt and relax. Now get to cleaning it again." He turns to the door and starts to walk out. "I'll be back in 5 minutes, I want to see a mirror shine on it when I get back"
"Stupid dad... I don't get to do nothing!" half angry and half exhausted, the tiny dragonborn boy cleans his father's weapon with a blurry arm. "I only said I wanted to be a warrior because they get to travel far from the clan, now I'm trapped inside all the time"
Obviously annoyed, the child puts the weapon to his face. "WHY IS THIS STILL NOT SHINY?! I RUBBED IT UNTIL MY ARM HURT! UGH!" he tosses the weapon to the floor "STUPID STICK!"
Hearing his son yelling makes the older dragonborn laugh. Opening the door he walks in and sees young Viktor defeated by the steel. "Do you need a hint?"
"NO!" the young boy yells through a snotty nose and red eyes "I just need more time! 5 minutes isn't enough time! That's like nothing!"
"Fine. How about a bet? If I can make it shine in under 5 minutes, you listen to what I say without any complaints or crying." The thought of that made Viktor visibly upset. "If I cannot, you are free to go and play all week." and with that little incentive, Viktor agreed instantly.
"Well a bet is a bet, now you need to buckle down and not complain" He strikes the glaive against his palm and shines the reflected light into Viktor's eyes.
"But that's no fair! You never said anything about using water and stuff!" Throwing his hands up in the air he yells out "that's cheating!"
"It's that complaining I hear?"
"Ugghh. No sir." He slumps down into his chair.
"Good because I won't always be there to help out, you need to think things through. You can't just rush in and expect things to always work out. Brute strength isn't the answer to everything, you need foresight and wits. Just look at your older brother, scales of gold but a tongue of silver on that one."
Viktor always hated being compared to Vaas, he liked his brother just fine but it always got on his nerves. It's the reason he wanted to be a warrior. Vaas is smart but thin and weak, it was something he couldn't do, even if he wanted to.
With a smirk Viktor whispered "Yeah but he couldn't punch his way out of a clay pot."
With a bellow that startled Viktor his father laughed and patted him on the back, "Now don't you go saying that to his face. But for now, go out and play. I think you've had enough for now, but I want you back here for some actual weapon training."
Viktor's face just gleams with excitement and joy "Really!? Oh oh I need to tell Griz!!" And like a flash of gold, he is running outside with his tail hitting everything along the way.
